On July 14, 2023, at approximately 4:21 PM, Emporia/Lyon County Fire/EMS and Lyon County Deputies responded to mile marker 133 Interstate 35, Lyon County, KS, for a report of an injury accident.
A white 2018 Honda Civic left the roadway and struck the guardrail in the median, and the occupant was trapped inside the vehicle. Upon investigation, it was determined the vehicle was driven by 22-year-old Jaden Ann Eck of Wichita, KS, driving northbound on Interstate 35 near mile marker 133 when her vehicle left the roadway due to significant weather conditions and struck the guardrail.
Emporia Lyon County Fire/EMS removed Eck from the vehicle and transported by ambulance to Newman Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It was determined that Eck was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident.
